WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT MIKE
Dorothy and Sam - Palo Alto, California
"Through his unique abilities and personality, Mike has helped our preschool-aged son, Jason, in ways that no one else could. Last year, Jason couldn't tolerate being close to other kids and used to run away. This year, he's in a regular preschool, where he's not only comfortable being around other kids, but also happy and having fun playing alongside and even with them. Besides social/play skills, Jason has developed self-help and motor skills, as well as overcoming sensory issues - all with Mike's expertise and in a fun, motivating, natural context. For example, Mike patiently taught Jason how to ride a bike when we thought it was hopeless."
Patricia - Sunnyvale, California
"Mike's work isn't easily categorized. He is, at once, a social skills coach; a play skills teacher; a playground facilitator; a sports coach; a motor skills developer; an interest broadener; a terrific motivator, a confidence builder; an encourager; a father figure; a big brother; a fantastic role model; a supportive listener and a wise counselor. Many service providers can perform one of these roles excellently. However, no other service provider that I know of, delivers all these services in a single package."
Peter - Los Altos, California
"Mike offers a credible promise of effectiveness, because his approach is fearless and "can-do". A key part of this is his uncanny ability to get kids of all types (expert players and the kids [on the autism spectrum]) to participate and interact in a variety of play scenarios. He knows how to assess a playground scene, pinpoint the right kids, create a comfort zone for them and draw them into the action. His attitude, coach's style and energy engender trust and a desire to play - among all participants."
Rita - Los Altos, California
"Mike has a great talent for being creative and effective in engaging children in play situations. He instinctively knows what motivates children and has a gift for capturing and maintaining their attention...[My son] Zachary bonded with Mike from the very first session. He looked forward to his sessions with Mike, and his face stills lights up when Mike is mentioned or when we run into Mike around the neighborhood."
Daisy - Palo Alto, California
"Mike has a natural magnetism when it comes to children. He is the "Pied Piper" with both neurotypical and autistic children. He has a very nurturing yet firm manner in his dealings with my son and other children at the preschool where Mike is the inclusion specialist. Mike is the only other male role model, besides my husband, who provides the balance in Charlie's life. Mike is, himself, very childlike in his demeanor, which is why children are drawn to him. In his 2+ years with Mike, Charlie has developed a sense of humor that is unique, he is very willing to take chances, and he has great confidence in his own abilities to do things. He looks forward to all of his sessions with Mike with a big grin on his face. Mike is one of the few people who can bring Charlie out of a "bad" mood! Mike has not only been great for Charlie but for all of us by providing guidance and coaching on how to interact with our son. Mike has been a truly great find.... a rare gem!"

"The things that I would say about Mike's work with my daughter that are most unique, helpful and special are too many to list, but to highlight a couple: unlike most autism specialists who sit at a table and talk in a quiet, rote voice, Mike has spirit, is animated and his enthusiasm is contagious to the children. Clearly, a big deal since autistic children, typically, do not imitate any one too easily. Mike is "fun" for the children. Other unexpected accomplishments under his care include my daughter leaning how to navigate a playground, run an obstacle course, and really spark her competitive nature. In unrelated situations she has been heard to say to others: "good job!", "good try!", "high five", etc. - all appropriate and showing good team spirit. And there are more instances."
